Fantastic! You're in the right place! First, assess whether your dog is eager and ready to take the plunge off the dock, or if they need to brush up on their confidence and swimming skills first. Dogs must have a love for chasing toys, exhibit confidence in unfamiliar environments and show enthusiasm for charging into the water to swim and retrieve.

If you already compete or have started dock diving elsewhere consider simply joining us for one of our open dock sessions to get started at BDU.

If your dog leaps off of docks at the marina or your home dock for their toys, you may also sign up for open dock.

25 minute private dock diving instruction with Kristi Baird for those already able to jump from the side of the pool , short dock, or from the regulation dock height  (belly floppers to high flyers)!  Dogs MUST be exuberant toy chasers and water loving swimmers prior to taking a dock lesson.   *You may share or split your lesson with up 2 dogs max per session.

Swimming lessons with Kerry Haggerty are for dogs who need to learn how to swim OR are unsure OR have not yet jumped off a dock.  You must first be a confident swimmer and belly flopper before moving on to dock diving lessons! Lesson can be spit between a max of 2 dogs per session.  

*For those needing to schedule  "SWIMMING LESSONS" for dogs not yet swimming on their own into deep water or charging in the water to retrieve a toy, 40' pool temp MUST be 65 degrees or warmer!

Intro to Dock Diving 101 - group class

*** Required for all Dogs Coming to BDU pro to renting the dock for the first time and/or have not had a lesson at BDU ***

Swim Assessments are for dogs who are already swimmers and comfortable in the water. Swimming means floating/swimming in water over the dog's head willingly and without force AND able to exit the pool without assistance using the ramp. Your dog must be a capable swimmer to use the pools without instruction.  You may use a flotation device on your dog as part of the assessment.

Swimming Lessons

We offer private instruction April 1st - October TBD geared toward building your dog's confidence to swim from the ramp or jump from the puppy dock for their toy.  Opening and closing dates are always weather dependent - check appointment page for updates.

We can help your dog learn to be an independent swimmer or get your puppy off to a positive start (we recommend starting puppies around 12 weeks, and in a water temperatures above 65 degrees).    Dogs should have some toy drive for best success - meaning, at minimum they should have interest in chasing a toy on land before coming to the pool.   Sign up for your dog's lesson today by clicking the scheduling link at the top of the page.

​Swimming for fitness and fun

Swimming is one of the best forms of exercise for dogs of all ages.  We offer non instructional swimming April 1st - October TBD.  Many agility, herding, confirmation, mushing and  other sport dogs use our pools for conditioning sessions to help keep their dog's fitness in tip top shape during their competition season.  A fit dog is far less likely to sustain muscle injuries while competing in their favorite sport.  

Let's face it... tossing toys into the pools while your dog bounces at excitement at your feet is just plain fun times.  You don't need to have a goal to enjoy our pools.   Grab a doggy friend and set up a play date for up to 3 dogs at a time.  Your dog will love you for it, and you'll appreciate their soft fur after affect of swimming in our well maintained pool and facility.  We do request that you brush excess fur and remove excessive dirt from your dog before arriving. ​

Then our beautiful, indoor heated pool will be his/her new favorite place to learn the sport of Dock Diving! Our experienced instructors love helping dogs learn how enjoyable dock jumping is for daily exercise and fun! Dock diving is one of the most popular dog sports and a great way to enjoy the water with your dog, get outdoors, and enjoy the beautiful weather! If you want to take dock diving to the “next level” and enter competitions, our instructors will show you how! This workshop is for dog and handler teams who are already jumping off the dock and are interested in trying out Air Retrieve. In Air Retrieve, the bumper is stationary and suspended above the water, two feet above the dock. The dogs compete to knock the bumper off the AR Rig at the farthest distance. In this workshop we will introduce new dogs to the AR Rig and grabbing a stationary bumper for the first time. If your dog has a favorite bumper or wubba, please bring it along as we will use it to help introduce them to going for their favorite toy when it isn’t moving. Come join us and learn more about your dog’s next favorite dock diving game!

PREREQUISITE: Dog’s must be jumping off the dock already, please bring their favorite toy  (no balls please) the toy must be able to be suspended using clips.  Dogs must have participated in Think Pawsitive’s Snowball Splash League, competed with Pier Pups, UAD, Dock Dogs or NADD OR have completed a private lesson or Dock Diving Evaluation and received Instructor Approval.  This workshop is not for dogs under the age of 11 months.

Have you ever wanted to try Hydrodash? If so, this workshop is for you! This workshop is for dog and handler teams who are already jumping off the dock and are interested in trying out Hydrodash. Hydrodash is the newest addition to dock diving. The bumper is suspended just over the water and set 37 feet out into the pool. Dog’s are tested on how fast they can swim. This workshop is for dogs who are brand new to Hydrodash. In this workshop we will introduce new dogs to the AR Rig and grabbing a stationary bumper for the first time.
